Why I created this book, from author and illustrator Lucy Tapper: When my children were born, I was struck by how much of that first day felt important, and how quickly those details began to blur. I wanted to create a book that holds those specifics in a way that feels natural. Not a list, not a novelty, but a story that gently records the beginning. So that one day, they can see not just when they were born, but how that day sat in the world around them. I illustrated the new arrival as a curious, playful, lovable little monkey, full of joy and wonder.
