Why I created this book, from author and illustrator Lucy Tapper: I wrote A Promise to You because I know how much we carry for the little people we love. There are so many things we want to promise them, but they do not always come out easily. I wanted to create a story that puts those intentions into simple, meaningful words. Not promises of perfection. Just promises of presence. Of patience. Of love that does not disappear when things are difficult. So that one day, they can read it and know that from the very beginning, someone was quietly committing to them. I really enjoyed creating the adorable penguin parent character(s) and their cute little nestling too.
