Why I created this book, from author and illustrator Lucy Tapper: I created You’re My First Valentine because before children understand romance, they understand safety. They understand arms that hold them and voices that comfort them. I wanted to capture that first, foundational love. The love that shapes confidence, belonging and the courage to step into the world. A way of honouring the parent who was there first.I loved depicting the parent as a cuddly koala with their little one(s) by their side.
